Highway
My ears felt to be two feet from my shoulders.
The ground shifted beneath my feet
as I walked down the highway.
Pine trees drove their cars down the street
and honked at me.
My head fell off and I scrambled around to pick it up.
Meanwhile, cars swerved around me,
barely missing me.
As I put my head back on,
I looked at the green sign in the distance.
It had a left arrow and “DOWNTOWN” in bold letters.
Stumbling across the highway,
there was my fumbling little body,
trying to find out where I was.
I peeked over the guard rail and saw
a mile long cliff leading downtown.
My little body tripped back across the hig
Dark morning, monitor bright;
drowsy from drugs, weak and weary,
three a.m. sits uneasy with me.
Silently, thoughtfully,
I count pictures of you I'm not a part of,
chill of the moon falling on my shoulders.
It takes less time than expected.
You were so beautiful,
aloof and shining like a golden sun;
I cringe with each new revelation,
reaching out to touch your face through the screen.
Heat rises in me, apart from the cool of the night --
even with the mountain air on my breath,
your smile still does things to me I can't explain.
Maybe it's the medicine talking,
maybe it's the lateness of the hour,
or maybe it's just my imagination,
but I
Shrouded in fool's gold
Since our true forms won't last.
We cover ourselves quickly
And deceive the world fast.
We don our shiny personas
So the world will believe
Our masks are true intentions
And we wouldn't dare deceive.
We think them the fools
Since they fall for our trap,
Think we are honest
Right before we snap.
But we be the fools
Who dare not to be true,
Since the only real gold
Is the gold that is you.

what a strange day...
for martyr of missing time
born in the urn grove
among burning embers
born on the wrong side of the tracks
what a strange day...
for an unknown hero
living in his restless chamber
his head like an ice-breaker
his uniform of ivory tears
what a strange day...
for a night in a boiler room
mais la nuit est mon amie
so let’s talk about the lousy
plane crash avalanche
what a strange day...
for this nightmare paradise
princesse est très curieuse
and her calculated motifs
like a transcription factor
what a strange day...
for this residue of a pattern
rarely essential by your knowledge
beyond the nucleotide sacri
I could feel the water rushing
as it clouded up my eyes,
with rocks tied to my ankles
and salty kelp upon my thighs
and I heard the soft waves whisper
water-logged words into my ear:
"A life boats just
around the sea bend,
keep paddling my dear."
When the time comes they will
use yellow coloured machinery
the diesel smoke
will spit out
and metal teeth will bite the earth
like a dinosaur
chewing .
A fathom down I will go
And then the fresh newborn earth
rich as the first day of creation
will spill on what remains
like soil from a giant's trowel
and beneath it all
in perfect harmony
I know there will be
no more
digging.
